The Stadtpfarrkirche zum Heiligen Blut in der Herrengasse was built in the 15th century as the church of a Dominican monastery and was elevated to a parish church in 1585. Its current appearance combines a Gothic core, a Baroque facade, and the neo-Gothic tower from 1780/81, which elegantly fits between the rows of houses. The most famous artistic treasure is the altar painting "Mariä Himmelfahrt" by Jacopo Tintoretto. The Assisi window by Albert Birkle from 1953 gained worldwide fame: In the stained glass window to the right of the high altar, Christ's tormentors Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini are depicted – a unique memorial in the middle of the church space. The church is located directly on Herrengasse between Hauptplatz and Eisernes Tor and is freely accessible during the day.
