Ten Years of Velofood: Biking Instead of Driving, Finally!

Who would have thought that you can get your food in Graz without traffic jams and exhaust fumes? It's been ten years since Jonathan Stallegger proved with Velofood that it is possible.

In the fall of 2016, when Jonathan was just 27, he thought: There must be a better way. While most delivery services were still driving around the city in cars and cluttering us with single-use plastic, he simply turned his passion for cycling into a business model. Ten years later, we can say: A damn good idea that has saved us from many traffic jams – especially when you're once again stuck at Lendplatz and the cars aren't moving. Today, Velofood celebrates its tenth anniversary, and Jonathan rightly looks back with pride at a company that has focused on sustainability from the very beginning. It's no wonder that this has caught on in Graz. Who wants their schnitzel transported across the city by car when it can arrive fresh and environmentally friendly by bike? Now that's a delivery system that fits our city, where we prefer to do everything by bike anyway – don’t worry, we won't send you up Schlossberg by bike.

So, the next time you're hungry, remember: Ten years of Velofood is a reason to celebrate. Maybe with an order delivered by a cyclist! #bikegraz – follow us on Instagram and Bluesky for more Graz cycling stories.
