Impact of the Cycling Ban in Graz's Schmiedgasse
Since mid-April, there has been a new development in our beloved Graz's Schmiedgasse that directly affects us cyclists: Cycling is no longer allowed there during the day. Surely you have noticed this while traveling through the city center. The idea behind it was to transform the alley into a true "promenade," and it seems that this has been successful.
For the local restaurateurs, this development is a real joy, as more strolling people naturally mean more potential guests who can linger comfortably. While some are breathing a sigh of relief and enjoying the new atmosphere, our police still have work to do in Schmiedgasse. It seems they still have enough to do to maintain order even after the introduction of the ban.
What do you think about this change in Schmiedgasse? Are you taking different routes now, perhaps through the Hauptplatz or one of the parallel streets? Let us know how you experience the situation!
