Lost treasures? Graz-Umgebung Police are looking for the owners of found bicycles!
Hello, dear BikeGraz community!
Today we have some important news that affects us all, especially if you enjoy longer rides out into the countryside, away from the hustle and bustle of the main square or through the Leechwald. The police in Graz-Umgebung have recovered a whole batch of found bicycles and are now looking for their rightful owners. Imagine you’ve left your beloved bike somewhere, perhaps after a minor breakdown on the Murradweg just before Kalsdorf or on a forest path around St. Radegund, and it was suddenly gone. It might now be waiting for you at the police station!
Unfortunately, it can happen in the blink of an eye: you lose sight of your bike, or it is unfortunately stolen. So it’s all the better news that the police are taking action here and trying to return the bikes to their owners. That’s a great sign and shows that our bikes aren’t simply forgotten.
What can you do if you’ve lost your bike or know someone who’s looking for one?
- Check the lists: The police regularly publish lists of lost property. Keep an eye on the official channels of the Styrian Provincial Police Directorate. There you’ll find details of the bikes that have been found.
- Describe it accurately: If you want to collect your bike, you’ll naturally need to be able to describe it in detail. Frame number, colour, distinctive features – the more details, the better.
- Proof of ownership: Receipts, photos or a bike registration are worth their weight in gold here. Keep them safe!
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that all the lost bikes find their way home. And while we’re on the subject: always remember to lock your bike securely, whether you’re just popping into the bakery on Herrengasse or leaving your bike in the basement overnight. A good lock is an investment that pays off!
