New Cycling Freedom in the South: Murfeld and Feldkirchen Move Closer!

Hey there, dear BikeGraz community!

I've got some fantastic news for everyone who loves cycling in the south of our beautiful city – or will love it even more in the future! The Styrian government is really stepping up and building a brand new pedestrian and cycling bridge that will directly connect the Murfeld area with Feldkirchen. Imagine this: no more annoying detours, no unnecessary kilometers on busy roads. Just glide over the Mur, straight into nature or to work!

Now that's what I call a statement, isn't it? This bridge isn't just a structure; it's a real upgrade for our beloved Graz cycling network. For us cyclists, this means:

  • Direct Connection: Finally, a straightforward crossing of the Mur between Murfeld and Feldkirchen. That saves time and nerves!
  • Safety First: Separate paths for pedestrians and cyclists – making commuting or weekend excursions even more enjoyable and safer.
  • Expansion of the Cycle Network: The bridge closes an important gap and makes the south of Graz even more attractive for cyclists. Imagine how much easier it will be to explore new areas directly from the Murradweg!
  • Improved Quality of Life: Fewer cars, more fresh air, more exercise. Graz is gradually becoming an even better cycling capital.

I can hardly wait to zip across it myself and try out the new connection. In March 2026, this topic is still fresh, but the anticipation is huge! This once again shows that cycling is gaining ever-increasing importance in Graz. And that's a great thing!

What do you think about this new bridge? Are you already planning your first ride across the new connection? Share your thoughts and your best cycling experiences with us on social media using #bikegraz!
