More space for you: E-mopeds off the bike path!

Share:

Imagine you are comfortably riding along the bike path, enjoying the Graz air, and suddenly an e-moped zooms past you. Do you know the feeling? Good, because since October 1st, that's over!

Finally, the time has come: E-mopeds of class L1e-B are officially classified as motor vehicles and have no place on our bike paths. That's quite a statement, isn't it? Especially for us cyclists, this means a noticeable relaxation. No more worries about someone with a motor suddenly coming towards you on the Murradweg while you were actually wanting to admire the Murinsel.

The rules are clear: Anyone operating such a vehicle now needs a license plate, appropriate insurance, and an AM driver's license. This makes things straightforward. Even Vice Mayor Schwentner has made it clear: "E-mopeds do not belong on the bike path." We can only agree with her!

Now the path belongs to us again, and you can ride your rounds without constantly having to look in the rearview mirror – unless, of course, you're admiring your own speed. And to be honest, a little more space on the bike path is worth its weight in gold, especially when you're leisurely winding through the city and don't have to constantly watch out for someone with a motor coming from behind.

But before you rush off in excitement, take a look at our Radlwecker. It will notify you when the weather is perfect for cycling – so you can truly enjoy every free meter of bike path.

So, grab your bike and enjoy the regained freedom on our Graz bike paths. The Mur is already looking forward to you – and so are we!
