Are shared bikes coming back to Graz?

Share:

The discussion about bike-sharing in Graz is picking up speed again. After the end of the Nextbike system around two years ago, things might finally be moving forward: according to Kleine Zeitung, the city is currently in talks with a new provider to bring shared bikes back to Graz. 🎉

For many residents who commute to university, work, or just do their shopping, this could be a real win. A reliable sharing system makes cycling more attractive even without owning a bike – and closes the gap between public transport, walking, and private cycling.

What does this mean for Graz?

  • More flexibility: Need to get from Jakominiplatz to Lendplatz quickly? Grab a shared bike, park it, done.

  • Sustainability: Fewer cars, less congestion, cleaner air.

  • Tourism boost: Visitors can discover Graz easily on two wheels.
