Exciting news from my old deployment site—the former Kirchnerkaserne in Graz–Jakomini: Very soon, the 41st District Sports Ground will open, and we’re welcoming a brand-new inline skate & roller-skating track. Think “small wheels, big fun”! 😉
What’s in the plans?
The city of Graz is investing about one million euros into this new sports ground.
Facilities will include beach volleyball, basketball, and table tennis – and, brand-new: an asphalted inline skate and roller-skating track.
The track is 166 meters long, with banked curves and an inner area featuring an inline hockey field, a bike polo field, and lanes for stock sport.
The idea came out of community feedback—with Graz becoming a pioneer in Styria.
The sports ground is part of a broader masterplan with landscaped parks, public pathways, and integration into the new residential area.
What does it mean for you?
A fantastic space for roller-skating, inline fans, and bike-polo players—whether you're into leisurely glides or competitive fun.
The track will be publicly accessible—perfect for sporty fun or casual rolling.
Plus, it’s a meaningful step for diverse and inclusive sports opportunities—a modern and spirited development.
👉 So: strap on your skates, grab your bike and mallets, and roll into action! If you manage to stay upright (bonus points for style 😎) – share it with us on Insta or Bluesky using the hashtag #BikeGraz.
