Hilmteich Construction Site: Cyclist Frustration and Accessibility
Well, dear cycling friends, anyone who is around Hilmteich knows: There is currently more construction than idyll. Since May 4th, when the double-track expansion of Line 1 really got underway, we have particularly noticed this. And yes, as it usually goes when the excavators roll, there are significant restrictions for us cyclists as well as pedestrians. Specifically, the alternative cycling route through Hilmteichpark is causing quite a few complaints – the interim solution there doesn’t seem to be a hit.
One has to say, the complaints about the temporary route through Hilmteichpark cannot be ignored. Anyone who has had to go through there knows what I’m talking about. But hey, at least there is some good news: Accessibility has been improved. A small ray of hope in the construction jungle, even if one sometimes wonders why it wasn’t done right from the start, right?
