HENDLBAR OPEN: International Bike Polo Tournament in Graz
The international bike polo tournament “HENDLBAR OPEN” took place in Graz on 25 and 26 April 2026. This event marks the most recent major gathering of the bike polo scene in Styria, which concluded just a few days prior to the current date.
For anyone unfamiliar with the sport: bike polo is played on bicycles, often on a surface similar to a hockey pitch. Two teams use special sticks to try and hit a ball into the opposition’s goal. It’s all about precision, quick manoeuvres and teamwork on two wheels.
The fact that Graz hosted such an international tournament highlights the diversity of the local cycling culture. It shows that the bicycle is used here not only as a means of transport or for touring, but also as the basis for a dynamic team sport.
