Graz Mitte: Bike concept with Gürtel trick?

Graz Mitte: Bike concept with a Gürtel twist?

Sometimes you wonder whether the city planners actually ride bikes, right? But this time it sounds promising for the Grazer Mitte! They are currently working on an overall concept called “GRAZER MITTE” that divides our central city into four sectors. The cool thing for us cyclists: you should be able to switch directly between these quarters — and comfortably by bike, public transport or on foot. Sounds like less stress and more flow, doesn’t it?

Of course, car drivers will have to adjust too. All districts will still be accessible by car, but the direct route between the quarters will not be the most direct everywhere anymore. Instead, the car routes between the sectors will then run via the Gürtel. Whether that will be a little detour for some, the kind you otherwise only know from the Murradweg, remains to be seen. But hey, as long as we cyclists keep our shortcuts, everything’s in the green, right? Maybe there will soon be new favorite routes that take us past the Lendplatz without having to grind through the traffic jam.

We’re curious to see how the whole thing develops and what new possibilities will arise for us on two wheels. Maybe just the right occasion to take the bike out of the cellar again and rediscover the city!
