Well, gravel enthusiasts from Graz! Have you checked your calendar for late May 2026 yet? Because there’s an event coming up that should be of particular interest to us BikeGrazers: the Gravelei South Styria Edition 2026!
What’s in store for us?
From 29 to 31 May 2026, picturesque South Styria – more specifically, the area around Gamlitz – will be transformed into a paradise for all who love gravel riding. And the best bit? It’s not just about the race itself. The Gravelei celebrates the true spirit of gravel riding: exploration, shared experiences and, of course, the beautiful landscape. That’s exactly what we’re looking for after a relaxing ride along the Murradweg, isn’t it?
Routes to suit every taste
Whether you’re just starting out on your gravel adventure or already have thousands of kilometres under your tyres – there’s something for everyone here. There are various route options, ranging from a brisk 35 km to a lengthy 120 km. That gives us plenty of time to prepare, perhaps with a few long laps around the Leechwald or the hills around Plabutsch to get our legs in shape.
Why this is so exciting for Graz
Southern Styria is practically our neighbour. From Graz’s main square, Gamlitz is no great distance away, and getting there is easy. Just imagine: you set off from Graz in the morning, perhaps grab a quick coffee at Lotti, and in no time at all you’re in the heart of wine country, ready for an unforgettable gravel weekend. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore the region beyond our usual routes and be part of a major event at the same time.
Preparation is everything!
Even though it’s still a while away, it doesn’t hurt to start mentally planning the routes and checking your kit. Is your gravel bike ready for the gravel tracks of Southern Styria? Maybe the handlebars need a new grip, or the tyres are due for a change. Remember: a well-maintained bike is twice the fun!
