Family Cycling Festival in Mariatrost: A huge success!

So, who was there on 12 April at the Family Cycling Festival at the Mariatrost sports ground? I’ll tell you, it was another fantastic event for all cycling enthusiasts – and those who want to become one! JSV Rettenbach really put on a fantastic event – a proper exercise festival for the whole family. And with the active support of so many partners, it just goes to show what’s possible in our BikeGraz community.

It was brilliant to see how many of you made your way to Mariatrost. Whether on a cargo bike loaded with provisions, a mountain bike for the little adventurers, or a good old city bike – everyone was welcome and had a great time. The sports field was transformed into a colourful playground where children cycled about boisterously and the adults perhaps discovered a new bike gadget or two at the side events, or simply enjoyed the spring sunshine.

Especially in Mariatrost, with the green hills all around, a festival like this is perfectly situated. You can cycle out from the city centre at a leisurely pace, perhaps along Leonhardstraße, and find yourself right in the heart of the countryside. A great opportunity to get the bike out again for a ride and get active with the family. I saw a few familiar faces and had a few nice chats – that’s exactly what makes our Graz so special, isn’t it? That relaxed, uncomplicated atmosphere.

A big thank you to all the organisers and helpers who made this festival possible. Events like this are simply worth their weight in gold for our cycling city of Graz and show just how vibrant the scene is here.
