BikeGraz weekend briefing: Warm start to April

Share:

April is showing its friendlier side this weekend, with rising temperatures and increasingly sunny spells. It’s a great time to get your bikes out of the basement and explore the Graz region on two wheels.

On Friday, we’ll start with 14°C and mostly cloudy skies. Saturday will be overcast with 17°C, before Sunday greets us with a pleasant 20°C and partly cloudy weather – ideal for longer rides.

Planned rides

For anyone who enjoys cycling in company, there are a few organised rides again this weekend:

  • The Bike Event Mariatrost Training/Guidings takes place as early as Friday at 4.00 pm. A great opportunity to hone your technique.

  • Also on Friday at 4.30 pm, the Funky F_ride_ay invites you to a 46.19 km ride with 330 metres of elevation gain.

  • Sunday is then all about the “Coffee Rides”:

    • At 12:00, the Motivated Coffee Ride 💪☕🚲 12:00! sets off, a longer tour covering 105.24 km and 950 metres of elevation gain.

    • Those who prefer a more moderate pace can join the Moderate coffee ride 😎 ☕ 🚲 12:15 at 12:15 pm (67.93 km, 714 m elevation gain).

    • And for a relaxed ride, there’s the Easy coffee ride 🤗 ☕ 🚲 12:30 at 12:30 pm, covering 55.1 km with 507 metres of elevation gain.

Our route suggestions for the weekend

If you’d rather set off on your own, here are a few route suggestions for the weekend:

  • Easy (< 40 km): For a leisurely ride, we recommend the Graz – Stübing Open-Air Museum route. A lovely 28.04 km route with 260 metres of elevation gain, perfect for a relaxed morning.

  • Medium (40–80 km): Anyone wishing to join a group is warmly invited to the Funky F_ride_ay on Friday at 4.30 pm. A great opportunity to tackle 46.19 km and 330 metres of elevation gain together.

  • Hard (> 80 km): For the endurance cyclists among you, the Motivated Coffee Ride 💪☕🚲 at 12:00 on Sunday is the perfect choice. A challenging 105.24 km ride with 950 metres of elevation gain that’s guaranteed to get your heart rate up.
