Wild garlic trip to Spielfeld: the scent of spring on two wheels!
Well, can you smell the first hints of wild garlic yet? Here in Graz, it’s already sprouting up everywhere, and what could be better than a delightful ride out into the countryside to soak up that full spring feeling?
The lovely folks at Gravel Grinders Graz have put something special together for us: on Saturday, 28 March 2026, we’re heading out together on a wild garlic ride to Spielfeld. Sounds brilliant, doesn’t it? Just imagine: fresh air, good company and perhaps even the chance to discover a few wild garlic hotspots (though I bet the experienced Grinders know exactly where the best spots are!).
We’ll be setting off at 10.15 am, right by Spielfeld-Straß station. That’s handy, as it means anyone who doesn’t want to cycle the whole way from Graz can easily get there by train. A relaxing train ride along the River Mur and then straight onto your bike – perfect for a Saturday!
Pack your water bottle, a small snack and maybe even a bag for any wild garlic you might find (but please only pick it where it’s allowed and there’s plenty of it!). Whether you’re an experienced gravel pro or just fancy a lovely spring ride, the Gravel Grinders are known for their relaxed atmosphere. It’s sure to be a great day!
