Banana bikes: yellow, practical, suitable for Graz

Bananabikes: Yellow, practical, perfect for Graz

Some things are so obvious, there’s no need to dwell on them. Yellow is the colour of a banana, and if you call yourself Bananabikes, then the bikes are simply yellow. Logical, isn’t it? At least it’s not a garish neon shade, but a friendly yellow that’s clearly visible on the Murradweg cycle path without you being mistaken for a rolling warning beacon.

Eight gears. More than enough. For Graz, at any rate. Anyone who seriously needs more here is either cycling up the Plabutsch (which we certainly don’t do, certainly not voluntarily) or simply has too much time to change gears. For a relaxed ride through the city, past the Kunsthaus or across Mariahilferplatz, that’s easily enough.

Perfect for a sightseeing tour, they say. And that’s true. Especially if you’ve got visitors or want to see the city from a different perspective yourself, without risking your own good bike. Or if you simply don’t have one. That’s fine too. These things are sturdy, and being yellow, they’re impossible to miss anyway.

We’ve had a closer look at them because they’re the perfect fit for our sightseeing tour, which is starting soon. Yes, you heard right. We’re currently putting together a route that’ll show you the corners of Graz that you might otherwise overlook, or that are simply particularly charming. Everyone knows the Hauptplatz, but the Lendplatz has its charms too, especially on market day. And with a yellow bike like this, you’re sure to stand out – guaranteed to be a conversation starter if you stop for a break in the Augarten.
