This weekend (12–14 September), Graz once again celebrates Aufsteirern – the biggest folk culture festival in Styria.
The entire city center will turn into a huge stage, offering:
More than 100,000 visitors expected
Numerous stages and dance floors with live music, folk dancing and traditional groups
Regional delicacies – from pumpkin seed oil to sweet Steirerkrapfen
Local crafts, handmade goods and traditional costumes
A family-friendly program with folk dance workshops and activities for kids
In short: Graz is celebrating in Dirndl and Lederhosen. 🎶🥨🍷
As wonderful as the festival is, the city center is a no-go zone for bikes this weekend. 🚲❌
Most streets are blocked, squares are packed with people, and riding a bicycle is neither possible nor safe.
👉 Our tip:
Leave your bike at home this weekend
Use park & ride areas or bicycle parking spots outside the city center
Enjoy Aufsteirern on foot – it’s the best way to experience the atmosphere anyway
Stay safe, avoid the stress – and immerse yourself in the one-of-a-kind Aufsteirern vibe.
And don't forget: Post your pictures from Aufsteirern on Insta or Bluesky #BikeGrazAufsteirern
