Beware the Aerial Attacks! πŸŒ°πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

It’s that time of year again: autumn is coming, the leaves are falling – and so are their tougher buddies, the chestnuts.
While you’re cruising along Graz’s bike paths, there’s always a chance that a β€œflying projectile” drops from above and aims straight for your helmet.

Just yesterday, it almost happened to me in Augarten – a chestnut came flying down and missed me by a hair. A few centimeters to the right and I’d be proudly wearing its mark on my forehead today. Graz isn’t just Austria’s cycling capital – apparently, it’s also hosting the unofficialΒ Chestnut World Championships in Precision Drop.

Our advice: wear a helmet, duck if needed – and just laugh it off if you hear that satisfying β€œPLOP.” After all, it’s part of the true autumn cycling vibe, right up there with morning fog and that first patch of ice on chilly mornings.

So: keep your eyes open, head up (but not too high πŸ˜‰), and enjoy your autumn rides through Graz!

πŸ‘‰ Share your best autumn cycling photo on Insta or Bluesky with the hashtagΒ #BikeGraz – bonus points if it includes a chestnut as a β€œtrophy.”
